Stopping time and falling things

If you could stop time then that would mean that the earth stops spinning in space, as this controls gravity would airplanes and all flying things then fall out of the sky due to the absence of gravity?

Beware of a simple confusion.

The earth rotates and we measure time in comparison to that rotation (1 day or 24 hours equals one revolution � or thereabouts).

Your question suggests that if we could �stop time� then the earth would stop spinning. Not necessarily so. The earth�s rotation is not caused by the passage of time � it�s just that its rotation is a convenient measure of time for us to use. So if you stopped the passage of time the earth would not necessarily stop rotating.
