Pillow for child
5 Answers
My son has been in his own room and single bed for 6 months now (he is 2 and a half) and has slept without a pillow all this time. Last night I was in there with him for a bit and took my pillow and when i left he said he wanted to keep the pillow (i told him that mummy needed it and he was ok with that). Is he old enough to have his own pillow though or should we wait until he is a little older? Thanks in advance.

It is recommended you do not use quilts and pillows until they are over the age of 1. Like red has said, use a flat pillow and not a big bouncey pillow.

My daughter always had a pillow from as soon as she was out of her moses basket and moved to a cot. it was a very thin one though, When I moved her to her big bed she had one proper one and that was at 2years. She is now 6 and has two pillows and cushions to decorate her room. I dont see a problem with them but it probably depends on how your little one sleeps ie on tummy or back etc
I seem to remember that they should not have a big quilt or pillow till they are one. Something about overheating and subconscious moving if they cant breathe I think. Mine both had a pillow when they went into a big bed at 2 and 18 months but it is like a tesco value cheap one that is flat (useless really but they like it). If they are bunged up I put a pillow under the and of the mattress rather than under their head.
