I think that all dogs larger than a toy spaniel shot be shot, immediately, and the owners of dogs who have kids under 16 should be arrested if they let them out of a cage. Anyone who raises the slightest objection to what i am saying should be made to sit holding the ripped body of the baby that was mauled to death.
This happened to my friends kids in the 70's, an afghan hound mauled the little girl, the mom gave her little boy to a neighbour to look after, when she was in the a&e with the girl, the neighbour came running in with the little boy as the dog had done the same to the little boy, he rushed the boy to a&e but not without first beheading the dog, good old Tony, smart move.
I rest my case.

At the risk of you suddenly disliking me though, afraid I can't echo your sentiments. I don't agree that shooting a dog just because it's large is any way to go about this.

Personally id rather shoot the Chav generation who think it's cool to breed and train dogs to be vicious ot make themselves look cool.

I am scared of dogs, so I agree with Topo.
This evening, I went for a walk and could hear a dog barking, I was petrified. Silly I know but I half expected a dog to come at me out of the darkness!!

What right does anybody have to say that any animal should be killed? Humans were not put on this earth as gods to decide what should live and what should die.

Personally, I don't like rottweillers and pitbulls etc, so using elementary common sense, I don't socialise or have any other contact with them.

Anybody who chooses to put a child with a rottweiller doesn't deserve to keep their child. I detest the hypocrisy and self-pity of somebody wailing about losing their "lil angel" in these circumstances. She didn't even want to look after the child over Christmas - instead she chose to leave the kid with her parents for the duration, presumably so she could go out socialising.

I feel similarly about the McCanns leaving their (several) children alone while they went out socialising.

And as for the people whose (6 year old?) child was killed whilst driving a petrol-powered bike on a public road ... all my sympathy is with the other people who were involved in the accident.

Any dog can turn nasty if treated badly by its owners. Any dog can be reliable and good-natured if treated well. I would never however recommend a rottweiler as a choice of pet for a household with young children. Unfortunately, many people who own rottweilers/pit bulls/Staffies etc are low life moronic chav scum who have them to make them look hard, and treat their dogs appalingly.
