Shoe Shop in the Strand London
My ancestors between 1800/1830 had a shoe shop in the Strand near Villiers St. I'd like to know more about it . Can anyone please guide me to find some more information.

there may be information in The British Museum, certainly in a trade directoy for the area, which would be in the British Library for one.

There were a few in the Sir John Soane's Museum this year in their exhibition about the old Adelphi block which was ? bought about 1770 by the brothers Adam I thnk and they erected the Adelphi block. This was falling down by 1930 - yup 1930 and despite the sumptuous interiors, was pulled down.
Dja know about Villiers Street
George VIlliers Duke of Buckingham had streets named after all parts of his name. Of Lane has been renamed cant remember what and all the rest can still be visited.
