losing weight when breastfeeding
5 Answers
Hello all,
Can I realisticly lose 1 lb a week and carry on breastfeeding ? I have started doing 25 mins workout a day (thats including a 10 min warm) up because I'm not a highly active person and don't want to push myself too hard, also don't have too much time as I have my toddler and newborn to take care of.
I'm trying to watch how many calories I consume but have been told I need about 500 extra a day due to breastfeeding?!?! I want to lose about 1 stone and a half and I'm prepared to spend a few months doing it slowly to keep it off but is what I'm already doing going to make me lose weight? I always drink at least 2 litres of water a day and have increased my fruit and veg intake so I have at least 5 a day if not more.
any help gratefully received thanks guys :-)

Hi congratulations!
Yes the slimming world is excellent to follow while breast feeding you just have a few more 'healthy extras' while your following the diet and to make sure you get plenty of nutrition to keep a good milk supply
I was on this when I breastfed and used to lose on average 2 to 3lbs per week and still managed to feed my baby very well
Its the best plan to follow to look after you as well as baby x
Good luck xx

Hi and thankyou for ur answers, my youngest son is 2 and a half months old now. I breastfed my eldest son for 9 months and wasn't able to lose any weight in that time, I don't want to do that again and, having read ur answers I have looked on slimming worlds site I notice it costs 50 pounds to be a postal member! Is there no cheap or preferably free alternative? I really can't afford to join anything, just need help!
