food begging

my puppy is begging food all the time whenever we got food in hand. she is always putting her paw on my knees and shows her cute face, staring at me when im eating. i gave her treats during the day and gave her small picece food when we are eating, but im not sure i can give her food always as she got her own meals 3 times a day, but she is sitting still beside me and staring at me made me feeling guilty not giving her anything. any advice please?

Best thing to do is tell her no firmly and put her away from you. The more you give in the more she will do it. Don't feel guilty, from what you say she is well fed. She probably just doesnt realise that your food is yours and not for sharing lol

I bet you would feel more guilty if she got fat and got health problems, I would try to stop it before that happens.

Make sure you eat before she does - the 'lower' dogs in a pack always have to wait for their food till the top dogs have had theirs. Put her in another room or in a cage until you have eaten. How can you expect her to know when she is able to have some and at other times you are saying no? She is only a puppy and you must teach her and be consistent.

thanks aka ans lankeela, yeah, i never put her away when we are eating and sometimes feed her before our tea sometimes after. i just started my puppy training dairy, as i have no idea about dog before, will try to use those tips from now on and train her in more consistant way x

yep agree with Lankeela, you cant give you food sometimes, and not others. How old is she, as perhaps the food is not satisfying her appetite.

Mine would eat all day, whenever, whatever, if I let them, but apart from the first night we bought our last new puppy home when he 'stole' a whole fish off my husbands plate, we can eat with food on our laps and they wont bother us, as they know they arnt going to get anything. Nothing worse than a begging dog when they got older, especially if they dribble, yuk!!

she is just over 4 months. but she seems got bad temper already!! if we are eating and put her in other room or cage, as long as she awear we are in the house, but she cant see us, then she started making big noise, barking, or destroy everything she can find from the room. this morning, im trying to back to sleep for a hour, as woke up at 5:30, but she is trying to jump to our bed, so i put her in her cage and gave her chrews, but she started biting the bed i made for her and destroyed a pillow. i think she is doing it purposely to draw me attention and force me to let her out and stay in our bed in stead. similar situation happened many times, for examply, if i went for shower, let her staying downstairs herself, she always barking and chewing everything she can find like a nutter, what shall i do????
