Just how stomach churningly disgusting is this?

Still, I suspect this sort of thing is a regular occurrence in Dewsbury - certainly the "stepfather" must surely be the result of a family tryst (apparently the local Clinton Cards have set up a new range of Dewsbury cards - things such as 'Happy Birthday Uncledad' and 'Happy Mothersister Day')

EWWWWWWWWW - knowing they are related should have been enough to stop anything happening. Some people are so sick.
this does happen occasionally. People think they're made for each other because they're so similar; once in a while it's because they're actually related, but because they haven't grown up in a family environment the usual incest taboo doesn't kick in. But they're adults, there's no suggestion of exploitation, so I'm not going to run around making phoney puking noises. The state has no business in private bedrooms.

Even though they are father and daughter jno?

Perhaps you're right that the state should have no business in private bedrooms, but this situation goes way way beyond that - whether or not there is a law to prohibit this sort of activity is neither her nor there, they should just know, as human beings, that it is fundamentally wrong and they should not have done it.

We don't need a law to tell us that murder is wrong.
I though it was standard practice in certain parts of Australia!
OK , so they are adults, and the state have no business in the bedroom. To knowingly enter into an incestuous relationship is one thing, but to deliberately produce children from such a relationship is another. They should both be locked up and kept apart.
What I don't understand is why they felt the need to go on TV and tell the nation and then the world all about their lifestyle. You would have thought they would be ashamed of their dirty little secret. I know they are consenting adults but they brought a child into the world knowing it will grow up and find out about it's parents incestuous relationship. Its the child who will suffer ultimately!
There's always a risk of some kind of defects among children born to incestuous unions; but then there's a risk (rather less) with any children. It's pretty common to screen pregnant women for such defects and offer them the option of abortion if any is found. This could have been done here and maybe was (I believe they lost an earlier child). As to why they went on TV about it, I believe the news had already got out so they decided to defend themselves.

As for being fundementally wrong - no, I don't think so. It seems to have been standard practice among Egyptian pharaohs, for instance. And mopre recently there has been lots of intermarriage among Europe's ruling houses - a way of keeping power to themselves.

I can't say I fancy the idea much myself. But I'm not bothered if other people disagree. Archbishops can draw up lists of who you can and can't marry, if they want; I won't.
Thats why they're all potty in the royals.
