Living on your own land
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone knows the situation living on your own land. I am looking at buying some land and putting one of those wood chalet type bungalows on it to live in as I can not afford to buy a property and fed up with renting. I found out you do not need planning permission to erect one of these as they are transportable apparently. Before I go through all of this I was wondering if anyone knew anymore details on it. There was a programme on a few weeks ago about an ex gypsy woman doing this and she had done the exact same thing. Any information would be so much appreciated

Councils are reluctant to give this because once the land has permissions to be lived on, it is easier to get building approvals.
You need to find a piece of land and discuss it with the relevant council before you buy. Some land it would never be allowed.

Wooden buildings are fire hazards, so best not to build near houses etc.
If they are under 4metres in height and at least 25m from the road you may get planning permission....if its not on green/brown belt.
Tell the council its a gazebo or stable. Then move in and hope they dont notice.....if they do, bring on a caravan.
