Series in the early 80's

This has been bothering me for a number of years now. I remember a series, I think on BBC2, 8 or 8:30 ish about a young guy, early teens, growing up on an estate. Blond haired lad, leather jacket, jeans and DM's. Maybe lived with his mother. Got into drugs or something, rebel without a clue type, got a skinhead etc. I thought his name was Jonny Briggs or something like that. I know there was another programme called Johhnny Briggs about a youger person but it's not that one. I can picture the actor, still remember the start of the theme music but am probably confused about character name. Any help will do. Thanks. Chi.

sounds like johnny jarvis.lived in london became a skinhead and went off the rails. cant remember the actor's name but i remember he was gary hargreaves(kathy hargreaves eleder brother) in grange hill !!!! sad i know.

johnny jarvis is the name of the series,it starred mark farmer as johnny.his mate was a nerd called lipton.
