Silverdaler here again - Cousins dog diagnosed with cancer.

My cousin has a 12 year old German Shepard (Bruno). We discoverd lumps on his back and on his testicles and took him to the vets. He went through an operation to have his lumps and testicles removed and survived the operation because he is such a healthy dog. By the way i forgot to mention before the operation he was just lieing around the house all day and hardly eating. They tested the lumps and diagnosed him with cancer, we refused treatment for it though. He was diagnosed with cancer this year at the end of january however i have never seen him so well! He is alyways eating all of his food, going for walks and playing with the other 4 dogs ( i spose they keep him active running around the garden! ). Is it possible they diagnosed the cancer wrong or has it disappeard?

Hi Silverdaler, Sorry you cousin's dog has had such a rough time, and it's great that he's so well now. When the lumps and testicles were removed, It is usual that they are tested for malignancy, and then they proved to be cancerous. So if the lumps etc were enclosed within a sac, and had not spread to surrounding tissue, it's likely that all of the cancerous tissue was successfully taken away, and no further treatment would be required. I'm curious as to what other treatment was suggested that you refused, or was there evidence of cancer elsewhere in the dog. Any how I'm really pleased he's doing so well. Best Wishes. Shutz.
