can any one help? a colleage has a doughter, who is very keen on finance & would love to spend a few days at the stock exchange in London as a work experience. She is nearly 16, she can seek "reference" from her school as it is part of her school work experience.

Contact them directly and ask would be your best bet I'd say.
Yes it would be best to contact the Exchange through its website.
