In my opinion anyone who needs to resort to one of these instruments of torture has no right to call themselves a dog trainer. Anyone can force a dog to comply by inflicting pain and fear, a good dog trainer does so with kindness and compassion. And don't even get me started on electric collars.
I want my dog to be close to me because he wants to be, not because I force him to be through pain and fear.
Besides which it would not work on my dog - when he stands on his hind legs his head is way above mine!!! You would not be able to 'pinch' the collar tight!!!
It has been proven in a recent study that people who used confrontational training methods (like pinch collars, Alpha Downs etc.) are more likely to get bitten by the dog.
It does not specify pinch collars (but they are confrontational/aggressive).
This is a paragraph from the article:
This study highlights the risk of dominance-based training, which has been made popular by TV, books and punishment-based training advocates, Herron said. These techniques are fear-eliciting and may lead to owner-directed aggression.
Barbaric !!! It's designed solely to subjugate the animal and to break its spirit.
They should be declared illegal with suitable punishment for offenders.
However, back in the real world, I realise that the weaklings who govern our legal systems would never dream of "letting the dog wag the tail" - for a change !!
use the halti or gentle leader there the best i use them all the time there better then any collar or harness its like wot u see on a horse ive got 2 german shephards an i use them on them u have complete control over them an where they go it dont hurt them just pulls on the back of the head an around the mouth they dont like it an WILL kick up a fuss but just persist with it leave it on awhile
