Wine tasting evenings!.......would you spit or swallow?
38 Answers
We are off to a wine tasting evening soon
Have you ever been?....what did you do?
Would you just use it to get sloshed, or spit in the bucket as you're supposed too?
( Could be some interesting answers here!!)

I met him last year, and he invited me to a proper, professional wine tasting in London.
I told my friends I had a business meeting in London (pathetic lie), and skived off for the day.
Bottom line ... I swallowed it all.
All the "professionals" were cleverly discussing the wine market ...
... and I got absolutely ratarsed.
I'd driven up, but I had to abandon my car, and get the train home.
Then ... I had to confess what I'd been doing, and get a friend to go and retrieve my car for me.
Rumbled!
I still get teased for it.
omg ... I was SO trolleyed that day.

yogi....if it is a "non-professioanl do" then do as you suggest.........drink the bloody stuff BUT if it is a professinally arranged wine tasting then:
Sip it...slosh it around the mouth, and spit it out into a receptacle. Then savour the "after taste" then after a few minutes nibble a piece of cheese and then taste the second wine and continue the same regime.

sqad is right.
Take it into your mouth.
Don't just savour the taste, but also the body and texture.
From the taste, you will detect what has gone into the area that it came from ... herbs, spices, minerals, etc.
The only way to get a real feel for the after-taste is to swallow it.
Sometimes, a bit can run down your chin, so be careful.
Also, try to get a good, big mouthful. A pathetic little dribble in your mouth won't be much good.
