Why has new quote gone up?
7 Answers
Hi there, i'm new here and came across this good looking site through googling the above question. The thing is i've just turned 25 and i've gained another years no claims 'bonus' making my no years free claim total of 6 years. I am therefore scratching my head when my quote for car insurance came through the door and opened up to find it has gone up by around 25! I have been told by many folk over the years your insurance goes down considerably when you turn 25. Is this just a myth then? My circumstances have not changed, i live in the same place as before, drive the same car etc. I am really disappointed with my quote and have shopped around a little and upto now even though it's went up slightly is the best quote i've had so far.
However how can it go up as it's always been coming down in previous years? My insurance is due very soon and i hope someone can help find me a much better deal.
Thanks for reading.

I understand what your saying to some respect but i've never had a quote go up from the previous year yet. I could understand of course if i had points, modified my car or made a claim since last time. Have i been ill informed about the age thing also as i thought with going on 25 i'd have a far better quote? The thing with go compare and my supermarket etc is they want to know which way the wind blows of a parp. It's frustrating and i'm paranoid of where all my details could end up!
I will try the place you mentioned but my current quote of 420 to me is unsatisfactory. :(

When you already have five years no claims discount, another year isn't really going to make any odds.
I don't know specifics about insurance and I know young drivers are considered high risk so age is a factor, but I wouldn't have thought the move from 24 to 25 would make much odds in reality. I don't recally my insurance dropping to any unusual extent when I turned 25 so I suspect that is a myth. Gouldc will be able to confirm though when he sees this.
