Refusing to pay a plumber
3 Answers
Stupidly, i used a plumber i did not know to complete central heating works and fit a bathroom. What should have taken a week at the most has gone in to three weeks, after which my place looks a complete mess (leaking pipe work, toilet not level, taps leaking etc). I have had a reputable plumber come out and take a look and he agreed it was a mess. Outstanding to the plumber is £1500 which i am refusing to pay as it will cost more than this to put right. Legally what can i do and where do i stand. I have taken pictures of everything and more than happy to go to court?

Also tell him that you will be contacting the Trading Standards about him if he doen't put it right.
If none of this works, I would also recommend that you put a nice video on Youtube (after any possible court action) with a heading like "Plumbing Disaster" and name and shame him.
If none of this works tell him he can take you to court to sue you for the money. I think once a court sees the shoddy work he has done you will have a very good case for not paying him in law.
