Anyone know what the song "Moo Moo Land" by KLF and Tammy Wynette was about?

Oooh, now there's a question. "Justified And Ancient" started out as part of a track ("Hey Hey We're Not The Monkees") on their first album, "1987: What The **** Is Going On?", released under the name The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu". The version released with Tammy Wynette in 1991 updates their original statement of intent - basically the bit about how they don't want to cause any harm, but you'd better not stop them - with references to other songs and events in their careers since the original version came out, plus some added surreal nonsense ("They drive an ice-cream van") thrown in to confuse anyone who thought they'd deciphered it all.

     Prominant Anceint of Mu Mu character "Dr. Who" escaped from the Ancients to start his career in television.  Mu Mu being a place out of time as written by many, as the Illuminated place of gathering after reaching the final state of superior being, in your chosed lodge, such as in Aleister Crowley's Ordo Templi Orientis.  There is also NO COINCIDENCE that Dr Who was written into another KLF song.  "Dr. in the Tardis"...


     Now to end this little note with a bit MORE mystery...  Ever wonder _WHY_ "3 AM Eternal"?  ;)
There's more to this than meets the eye...  And if you don't believe me, try to find out who wrote Dr and the Tardis and you'll find out it's their CAR...  whom I have met.  Yes MET.  It's one of the original Blues Mobiles.  And WHY the Ice-Cream Truck is mentioned in this song?  Hehe...  They didn't burn a million quid in the PAcific Ocean, try to sacrifice a goat, fire a machine gun into the crowd at the Brit Awards and sabostage their own careers by going country with Tammy Wynette, or sing communist songs with the Russian Army Choir just to "confuse" people...  ;)

justified and ancient is a song about the coming of the age of terror. "moo-moo land" is a referrence to the muslim faith. the muslim koran teaches its followers to kill all non-followers in an effort to scare the world into converting to islam. the lines "they're justified and they're ancient, and they drive an ice-cream van..." isn't very clear. islam believes their war on america is "justified" and is as "ancient" as their doctrine. some believe the ice-cream van part is talking about a plan to blow up a federal building by disguising themselves in a van parked outside. ?????? i don't know!!! sounds about right to me. whether this is klf's intentions or not i don't know. probably not. but this is an interesting rumor. watch out for muslims driving ice-cream vans!!!

Its actually Mu Mu Land, and the idea for the ancient Land of Mu came from early examination of ruins in South America, the 'lost land' was supposed to be in the Atlantic Ocean. However, its also proposed that some mis-translation had taken place and further, in the the time scales involved, and our knowledge of ocean geography, it is is not possible for a continent to 'sink' without trace ...... Two musicians, Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty liked the idea, and had formed the band KLF, they wrote the song and they were 'justified' and the idea was 'ancient'. So its a song about a journey to a better place. It had considerable potential to be a popular hit, so Tammy Wynette was recruited to provide the lead vocal. It became Number 2 in 1991.

In ancient times, long before the birth of modern humans, lived a superior species on Earth, in what some speculate as Atlantis. Some of this species escaped in spacecraft before the destruction of Atlantis. "All bound for Mummu land" is a reference to a primeval Babylonian deity called Mummu in the book "The Illuminatus! Trilogy" by Robert Shea and Robert Anton. Bill Drummond read the book and was highly influenced by the meta-religion Discordianism. The philosophy of Discordianism and Chaos magic in turn is directly linked to the kind of music the KLF made and references to it are found in many of the lyrics.
