just got ID'd in WHsmith

I was only buying a dvd 13 cert but they have a 21 policy, I had no id on me so they wouldnt let me buy the item I asked for the manager who said the he could not do anything now as the person on the till has asked he cannot rewrite the decision.

I had to walk all the way up the other end of town with heavy bags in the rain to get the dvd in HMV, im livid!

by the way I am 28 and look 28 never been id before arghhhhhhhhhh!

If you happened to be a mystery shopper for trading standards and tried to buy the DVD and the SA failed to follow the correct procedure, the shop gets fined heavily, and he or she will more than likely lose their job.

If I was serving you and you looked suspect over age- id have refused you too. Rather have a huffy customer than a lost job.

Incidently, ive lost count of the customers who i've refused to sell cigs or booze too who have angrilly come out with "But i'm 26" (or something similar"

ok, you obviously dont know how anoying it is, as if xmas shopping isnt difficult enough. I dont have any form of photographic Id to show I dont have any possible option.

It would be more annoying to the shop assistant who sold you the goods to be fined £1000 if it transpired that you weren't old enough and they were caught selling to you.

To be honest what the, I personally couldn't care less how annoying it is for you the customer. I imagine my annoyance would be a whole lot higher if I actually lost my job over something like this.

It was information was constantly reminded of when I worked in an off licence B00,my boss was very strict about me and the other assistants asking for ID.

what ever happened to common sense?? The DVD was a 13 cert and someone who is 28 is clearly going to look older than 13. That is the problem with too much regimented training, people no longer need to use their own brain.

that's why internet shopping was invented. Whatever it was you wanted, you could almost certainly have got it cheaper on play.com. Obviously I would never do such a thing if I could buy an item at the Co-op and protect B00's job, but then the only time anyone asks me for ID these days is to see if I qualify for an OAO discount.
