Why does the stop button in IE not work?
In any version in my experience.
If IE8 is searching and I get fed up waiting and press the stop button, nothing happens.
It keeps searching or waiting (blue rotating circle in address bar) .
I have to press back or reopen IE to progress.
Drives me mad!!!

The technical answer is that IE is cr@p
Try setting your home page to blank, and you'll find that IE still spends 30 seconds or more "connecting..." and won't allow you to do anything else until its finished, even though a blank home page requires it to do nothing whatsoever.
do you mean 'Esc' key doesn't work? Give it up and download firefox free - much faster connexions
