I have a charity question and would like to know your way of thinking. When you've given or decided to give to charity what exactly make you decide to give?
1. Is it to help someone in need
2. Is it because you have extra and like to give some (whatever it is) away
3. Is it because you've felt so blessed with having so much that you give thanks through the giving of charity?
Having been in the Navy I always give to the RNLI. I also give to the Fire Service when I see them collecting money.
I also give to one or two other Charities such as Marie Curie (Cancer). There are so many Charities society, one cannot give to them all so I try and choose carefully.
I came across this question http://tinyurl.com/ycaln7t and thought - this person want to give charity to 30 people but instead of them absorbing the actual cost of the charity they are searching for sponsors to pay for this. They want to give something but expecting another to pay for it.
I always understood giving charity means giving from what 'you' have, something which comes directly from ‘you’.
I love quizzes so I normally donate through the purchase of quizzes (any prizes returned to the charity).l do a lot of sea fishing so I always support the RNLI like redman give to Marie Curie and Macmillan and hard hearted as it might seem I NEVER give to charites sending money abroad
We give a monthly amount to a local hospice charity. We see the work it does and know there is no waste on administration as it is entirely run by volunteers.
If it is one of the 5 charities that is close to my heart I give a reasonable donation on a regular basis. I cannot afford to donate to just any charity. But I do get miffed when I get three different charity collection bags through my door in 2 days this week. They obviously want me to live in a minimalistic state.
I don't give to charitable organisations; I believe some of them are quite shady. I much rather put the 'whatever' directly in the recipients hands. I got taken for many years by two different organisations, there never will be a third time. They both had to do with helping homeless children
