Want to buy the girls some fish

and fish tank, just seen one at pets at home, my little mermaid, is this any good, and how big is it? Also which tank and fish would be suitable for two little girls. thanks

what sort of tank is it? have it got pumps and filters or is it just a plastic tank with a picture of the little mermaid on it (in which case get two small goldfish)

or just the one goldfish. Contrary to popular belief goldies need ALOT of room, and to squash two together in what i assume is a small tank is cruel.

If it is a coldwater tank, ie no heater included how about a shoal of cloud minnows? But again, don't go overboard stuffing them in.

With a tank that small, you'll only realisticly have room for one goldfish i'm afraid. If you get 2 or more, they'll be no room for them to grow and as I said it's cruel to do that to them.

I still recommend a small group of cloud minnows

lol, although the girls like to swim, they wont be getting in the fish tank, i can assure you, but if i bought a massive one, i wouldnt put it past them. How much are these cloud minnows, and how many do you think i should get for this particular tank. Thanks guys

As Boo said, white cloud mountain minnows would make an excellent choice for an indoor coldwater tank. I couldn't open the link above but assume it was the 17 litre one i looked up ? If so, the first thing i'd look at getting is a very small internal filter. This will break down the toxic fish waste and turn it into less harmful stuff. It will also give a bit of water movement and the minnows (which come from streams in China) will love it. A small internal filter should cost about £10.

A small shoal of 8-10 minnows will be ideal...they may even spawn in there. Good luck.
