Interview Fail
6 Answers
I had an interview yesturday and due to serious pain in my ankle (recently had surgery) I took some painkillers the night before. Said painkillers made me jittery all day - they are a slow release drug. So once I got to said interview I was a little wired. The interview was fairly short and intially I thought it went well. But now the painkillers are out of my system and I have had time to reflect I realise I pretty much failed to tell them what transeferrable skills I have to take to the role.
My question is: Do you think it would be best to leave it?
Or to ring and explain that the nerves got the better of me and then possibly tell them my skills?
If I do ring would should I say? I know my skills etc... But how do I strike the conversation up?
They told me they had alot of applicants and that they were interviewing until the end of the week, do you think its worth me calling and trying to save myself?
Thanks guys - I really want this role.

Just don't get downhearted if you missed out this time there will be other opportunities, Do you go onto the NHS Jobs website or did you hear about this job locally? If it was a local ad use the website, you can save applications and just tweak then for new jobs to tailor them to the person spec.... You got an interview that showed you met the requirements of the post so keep trying.

Thanks Rowanwitch. I look every day online, I also have a friend who works there too, so they keep any eye open for me also - Been quite a long time now since I worked due to my leg injury. But during my recovery I have been applying to every position that suits me, had a couple of interviews so far but missed both due to internal applicants. Shame, this suited me perfect.
Might be worth looking out for training posts, slightly lower salary to start but less likely to have an internal 'sitting tenant'
If you are keen to find a health service related job you could also try the strategic health authorities and 'Local Cancer networks' they have their own websites but usually have the same sort of terms and conditions

Thanks Rowanwitch - I will find out about this post next week, so fingers crossed - I am not hopeful though. They at least have a list of my skills on my online application. I just wish I hadn't takent the damn medication - I had been reading upi on everything for two days before. Then when I got there they only asked 5 questions - which totally threw me.
I'd write to them explaining the situation and let them know you would love the chance to interview again. It may get you nowhere but worth a try. Don't phone though, you will get tongue tied and sound desperate. By writing you give yourself a chance to get your thoughts straight before sending them.
