My wife cannot wear shoes with bare foot and pop socks severely hinder her choice of summer wear where dresses are concerned. She is always in trousers and I know this is getting her down any deas anyone?

It all depends why she can't wear shoes without pop socks. If it's because her feet sweat or a fungal problem (both accentuated by the way with pop socks) she might find wearing jellies and washing them often a solution. Mind you it looks like ankle boots with minis are in at the moment...
