I received through the post today an extended Questionnaire about my ankle for the post I applied for. Surely this means they are interested?

I hope so, I just hope my ankle isn't the reason I get the post!

What do you think the likelihood of that is? I have been honest with them and told them I still have some pain and that the only restriction I have now is crouching and that kneeling is not an option - so all basis are covered!

The post is in the records department so I will expected to lift/carry/dig out files etc... I feel I can do all this now. What you NHS guys think?

I think it is very positive, fingers crossed they may have referred a decision pending occ health review they may want to see you...and assess if they still are not sure
in my experience, they ring you and tell you if you have the job or not!

Good - I really really want this post. It is perfect for me and I would hate to think that my stupid ankle would be the reason I don't get it. I feel ready to work again. I have deliberately not worked this year mostly so that I can recover and I just don't want this ti be the thing that holds me back =)

to not ti

I realised that in my haste I have badly typed my question.

Crouching - no go
Kneeling - I am fine with

I meant to also say I hope my ankle isn't the reason I DON'T get the post.

Thank you for your replies x
It would be unusual for a job offer to be made if there is a significant health problem that might prevent the person fulfilling the role although I agree normally there is the appointed subject to health clearances phone call

It seems to me that they wouldn't be going to all this bother if they were not interested in me for the role?!

I am obviously open to taking a medical if needed to prove my ability for the role. Sometimes you wonder if you shouldn't mention things at all =(
hiya - can you ring them and ask? When you had your interview, did they tell you whne they'd let you know?
Question Author
I rang last week about when they would be making a decision Bednobs. They said they would make a decision after references were received. I have chased my referees and all have sent theirs in. So I am assuming that this health issue (ankle) is what is the deciding factor otherwise why bother asking?
When did they call for reerences was it after the interview in which case good... before hand you were expected to be in the top three candidates or at least thats the two variations they tend to use
Question Author
After interview. I phoned them to confirm when they would make a decision and the gentleman told me he was requestion refs this week (last week after interviews). Hence my chasing up my referees in the hope that it would go in my favour.
Question Author
Requesting* - I don't know what's wrong with me today (headache)
In every interview I've had at the NHS in which I have got the job, I have usually been called the same day (or the day after in one case) to say that I am being given a provisional offer subject to reference checks and occupational health clearence so I'm sorry to say that I think this all sounds a little unusual I'm afraid Greedy. I do think it would be best to give them a call as bednobs suggested.

Hopefully it'll be the answer you want and I'll keep me digits crossed for ya! :c)

I am assuming that the delay is also because one of the managers is on holiday also and I thought they were waiting for them to get back and then review references. Every interview I have had NHS they have rung within a day or so also. This is why I am unsure what is going on with this one lol

Thanks guys
Hi Greedy - has to be a step in the right direction. Don't be offended but have a look:

I am beginning to feel my ankle break is going to define me forever at this blooming rate.

Sigh... Thanks for all the info guys. Will let you all know what happens.
Ah just give 'em a call lass and see what they have to say, I'm sorry I put you on a downer, just my experience. Hopefully it's just a different way of doing things and it'll be fine. Let us know how you get on.
