Where in Africa are you going?
Question Author
but I'll be back Big Dave.
sg am going to Jo'burg to stay with a friend and do the shopping thing for a couple of days -then fly to PE, pick up a car and drive to Grahamestown -meet daughter and spend about two weeks on a private game reserve where she lives (her hubby is a game ranger) then down to Mossel Bay to my son's place - and hopefully a trip to Botswana if he's going up that way - (he has a private safari company.) Lots of bush, sea and sun - and grandchildren!
Sounds wonderful carmalee, I'm envious. Hope you have a good time.

thanks Jan1957 - I love Africa - lived there for 25 years and of course seeing children and their children is always a treat. It'susually about 9/10 months between visits so the g/kids have grown a lot since I saw them last.
O wow -thats sounds fanatastic. You are so gonna have a great time and i'm loving your positive attitude !!:)
wow life certainly is good if thats what you are up to, savour it when you are there, I hope you have a great time !
I wish I had had the forethought to be related to safari magnates and so on instead of office clerks and housewives. Sounds wonderful.
Have a brilliant time carmalee!
Where on earth is PE?
Sounds fantastic carmalee. Have a great time with those grandchildren....I love Africa too xx
Port Elizabeth

thanks everyone for your good wishes - will have a sundowner for all of you when I'm there!
You'll have to drink quick then carmalee...If I remember correctly, it goes down pretty quick over there....I do envy you. So much to look forward to :o)
Lucky you carmalee, my BiL and sis lived in PE for around 18 years then moved to Joburg for a few years. They loved living there, but came back home when their two boys were due to be called up. They've been back a couple of times for holidays. Lovely place but they say situation is changing there for whites.

I can drink quickly Mazie! Which parts of Africa do you know? I lived in Rhodesia for 12 years, then South Africa - spent a bit of time in Zambia and Malawi - favourite place is probably the Okavango - been up there about five/six times - once for a month when my son had closed the camp to visitors - bliss.
Carmalee, when you have your sundowner please have a Ginger Square for me
I used to work on the airlines and did Kenya a lot, Egypt, Ethiopia. Did a couple of holidays in Kenya, I loved it. I'm a bit green with envy here :o) xx

with pleasure DaisyNonna.
askyourgran - so true - lots of things are changing over there - trouble is you either love Africa or hate it and I love it - but have been lucky to spend an awful lot of time in the bush rather than the towns.
