hi hope to find some help my wife parked her car in car park and went shopping with her elderly father.they spilt up for brief moment in the high st her father go`s to the betting shop then go`s back to the car feeling unwell thinking that my wife wont be long and will return back to the car soon. on him returning back to the car he finds a young man asking him for his name address & number and being told that my wife's car had been in a bump with his my wifes elderly father by now feeling very ill said his details to him not thinking straight. when my wife returned to the car her father was upset and when she asked him what was wrong he told her thinking only of getting her father home .the wife didnt think no more about it but now this young man as phoned her father 5 days later asking for money for his car to be repaired so my question is should she phone or pop in to police and tell them of this plus tell her insurance as he as also taken her reg number plate plus photos on his moblie or ignore him and tell her father to put phone down

tell him to ignore all calls, he should tell them its not his car.
They can then go through their insurer and do it the proper way

You dont actually say if your wife had hit the other car or not

wife hadnt hit anything car was ok no marks or bumps to it thanks for reply

i agree...how can she have had a bump of the car was stationary?

and if there is no mark on the car how can his be damged?

id ignore it, thought might be worth telling the insurance co of an attempt to make a fraudulent claim on your car

Perhaps the police do need to know about this.

If they are fraudsters and are targeting vulnerable looking people then they could be on a scam that the police need to know aqbout.
