Even though she is being drip fed heroin by her mother, how long does cold turkey go on for if she hadn't been?
In The French Connection it took Gene Hackman about a week to get back to normal.

and how do you take Heroin.... cos she passes her the stuff and then leaves her there. Do you need any kind of tools/equipment?

Apparently they researched this subject intensely and what we are seeing (albeit the acting is suspect spesh the father) is bang on.Ive heard a week is cold turkey but then i only watched Trainspotting....

Missed an episode, why is her mother giving her the stuff if she is trying to get her off it?

It varies from person to person but the first 4 days are pretty rough after that it tends to get easier... I don't watch emerdale, what's going on?

i think that the parents have locked holly up in her room to go cold turkey but mum cant stand to see her daughter suffering so she has been out on the streets of hotten to score her some heroin! and the dad doesnt know.
i think they have dragged the storyline out a bit too long now

The daughter was on methadone -she was caught prostuting herself for a fix.her parents decided to hold her hostage whilst she withdrew -they removed all objects from her room which would prove harmful -except the window -thats now boarded up as she panned it to get out..
She was suffering so much -like writhing pleading etc that her mother couldnt bear it any longer and secretly went to her dealer and got a wrap.That enabled her to eat altho no-one else knew -now the daughter is back in the throes and it would seriously put anyone off given its being transmitted at 7pm but her mother wont so far relent-so its a waiting game until she breaks...........very sad story to try to relate at prime time.I think theyve done a good job.

In soapland I think everything is dragged out. The murder of Mark Wilde took over a year for the outcome. Similar in Coronation Street of the Colin Fishwick saga.

jubie -they havent not that i'm trying to be obtuse.
Normal heroin addiction to withdrawal can take years.I think they have done a good job for soapland in fairness.

don't start me on the colin fishwick saga mikmak i find it sooooooo absurd. do you think john snape is going to hit by the tram?

Years?? I can't believe that. I would have thought a month at most to get it out of your system and then determination to not go there again. Cravings/yearnings may last a lifetime but surely the horrible physical symptoms of cold turkey can't go on that long.
