6 Answers
Olympic and multi major winning beautiful female pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva, world famous conductor Valery Gergiev, plus gorgeous soprano Anna Netrebko were all part of Russia's World Cup Bid. Oh, yes, and also current top player Andrei Arshavin.
Who did England have? David "Washed up footballer" Beckham, Gary "MotD" Lineker, Prince "More Navy time off" William, and David "Hug a hoodie" Cameron.
So there we have it: is it any wonder Russia won and England didn't get past the first round???

I would imagine having the current prime minister and the future king of England there was quite a coup.
The problem is you dont kick a person in the balls 2 days before they are going to vote for you (thanks BBC).
This was all political and secretive.
FIFA want spread football round more of the world, and so it is no surprise that two countries who had never staged it won this time.
Mind you I have to say giving it to Qater is one of WOST decisions I have ever come across in any organization.
No doubt each voting member of FIFA will find a Rolls Royce on their drive when they get home.
