Humm.. not sure if this should be here or in food..

Watching Gordon on C4 re sharks.. he says they chop of the fins (to make soup) then let the shark back out to sea. where they then perish .. do sharks need fins to guide/swim/live.. or have they died from shock having part of their body hacked off.?!

I have eaten more than my fair share over the years and living 8 years out there in HK and on the mainland.
I am not condoning this but Gordon is laying it on with a trowel about this........the meat goes into animal food etc. Yes, there may have been an incident or two but this is gross exaggeration and irresponsible.
Having said all that the Chinese are pretty brutal as to their cuisine and I could share some stories....... There's an old adage in HK, "If it m oves they eat it, if it stays still they build on it." There are, though, some massive regional differences in eating habiits never mind religious differences when it comes to food.
