The definetly funkiest song is one called " I believe in miracles" by the Jackson Sisters, a seventies tune! The rhythm is pure dope, no kidding! Download Track from audiogalaxy.com Word up!
And when you've finished dancing to that.... James Brown, George Clinton, Parliafunkadelicment, the Meters, (early!) Kool & The Gang... lots of ridiculously funky music waiting for you!
personally i find jamiroquai to be rather funky!
Check out anything on the old 'TK' label - Peter Brown's 'Do Ya Wanna Get Funky With Me?' and T-Connection's 'Do What You Wanna Do' - one of the earliest 12" singles clocking up nine minutes plus - they'll do the trick for you - promise! Oh, and speaking of Jamiroquai - have a listen to Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition' to see where Jay Kay nicks his ideas!
Best album in the world?!? SupaFunky, available now in most record stores, blue cover, red funky writing...double CD...it's da' bomb! Failing that, series of albums called Sampled 1, 2 and 3 now, these are the original toonz to popular songs, worth a look. Best up-to-date funky CD I have bought?? Gotta be NIKKA COSTA album, everybody got their something...also, Door to the Souk album (by PoNaNa chain of clubs), along with Morcheeba's earlier stuff... erm...sugar, their's loads! I'm Into funky music in a BIG way!
Try anything by the primarily 70's band "Tower of Power".
