Like a lot of us I have a Pay Pal account - in my case to receive money from hits on sites that I write for and this then uploads on my orders to a Lloyds account. I do not use the account for purchases.

Have just received an e-mail that my account (actually in a wrong name on either account but one of my lesser e-mail addresses) that there had been several attacks on my account and they would be deactivating it if I did not respond - account details and all that to be filled in.

Immediately suspicious and I called tele-banking who confirmed the spam and its now whistling over to [email protected] - however the branding and everything (OTHER THAN their e-address) is pretty realistic.

So BEWARE you Lloyds account holders.....don't fall for it.

I have lost count of the number of those that I have had....one thing you can do is to drag the email into your junk folder. This trips off the html and you can often see the reall return address, link, etcetera. One particular one I had a return address of "[email protected]" which i thought really was taking the wee wee

thanks - never heard of tripping the html and tried dragging it over but no luck - I am sure Lloyds may be able to get at it.......]

I delete every email I get for every bank - I don't care if they are genuine. I check my online account at least once a day and if anything was amiss I'm sure I would spot it pretty quickly. If the bank emailed me and I didn't respond, I'm sure they would write to me.

They come round all the time, DT, I've had two from Nationwide today asking them to reactivate my account "via this link".
I'm making a collection of the banks' phishing reporting addresses!

Never click on any links in an email...even if it looks as though it's from a friend.

All you have to do is give them your bank details, and they promise to give you about £900.
