What is pig's breakfast

Not so much now but years ago pigs were fed 'pigswill' which was a mixture of waste food or other edible matter - a bit of a mess really. I should imagine, therefore, that to make a pig's breakfast of something would be to make a mess of it.

That's a new one on me - it sounds like a cross between making a pig's ear of something and making a dog's breakfast of  it - both of these mean making a mess of it, as Jackanory says. Dog's dinner is a more common version of dog's breakfast, I think.
