Relative arguments ?

Which is worse, a hoohaa or a kerfuffle, also where does a "right to-do" fit into the scheme ? What are people's other phrases for arguments/disagreements or minor "situations" ?

Do you want a 5 minute argument or a full half hour.

A "right-to-do" is quite major as is a "set-to" whereas a "hoohaa" is a bit of a storm in a teacup and a "kerfuffle" is just a bit of an "argy-bargy". Which just leaves Ruck, Altercation, Squabble, Dispute, Affray,Riot, Tumult and Uproar.

I'd have thought all three you list are at much the same level of seriousness. Here are some more for you to grade...having a spat, tiff, squabble, row, fracas...having words with, falling out over, bickering about, being at loggerheads over, being at daggers drawn over, being up in arms over.

6 replies already, thanks guys, I have just been hearing the term "kerfuffle" a lot lately, it seems to have come back into vogue. I agree that it's probably the least of those suggested. I wondered whether Python would raise it's head, but I wasn't trying to provoke a heated debate. By the way I hear Mr. Du-Bakey's free, but he's a little bit concilliatory...

Kerfuffle has come back recently due to the TV series "Little Britain" and the characters Louis and Andy. Andy is in a wheelchair, and Louis is his carer. Louis uses kerfuffle in every sketch.
