I only ask as it seems you cant read any part of it without needing something explained to you, so you must be taking a while to read the book if everytime you encounter one you have to pop on here and ask a question.

Can't you get the meaning of these phrases and sayings from the context of the passage ?

If thats the case, why not read the version of the book in his native language.

I think that money making behemoth of a book would have been translated into other languages.

Perhaps he/she is learning a second language. I remember reading French books in my dim and distant past when I was learning the language.

c'mon guys, he's reading a book in a foreign language (and not a well-written one), he has trouble with some phrases, he asks for help on a Q&A site. Where's the problem? Nobody has to answer anything he/she doesn't want to... I'm sure that's in the rules somewhere along with the stuff about chocolate cakes.

She is Korean and is reading various books in English specifically for the purpose of learning English.  Therefore reading it in Korean would defeat the purpose of the armadillo.

I find kjc0123's questions are always interesting to see what difficulties our language presents to someone like her. Usually you have to try and guess what books she's currently reading.
