Moths .... (the flying sort)
8 Answers
Morning folks ... got a bit of a problem at home, which I hope someone might be able to help us with.
We seem to have a plague of moths in our bedroom at the moment. It's the back bedroom and, for the past week or so, we keep finding little yukky moths all over the curtains, in the light fitting, on the floor ... everywhere in the room in fact. They are the sort of moths that turn into grey powder when you've zapped them! We've tried one of those electrical blue-light flykiller things (ineffective) and apparently, you can't get mothballs any more because of some EU directive that they are harmful (probably to moths!).
Any suggestions would be gratefully received ...
Many thanks, Chox

if this is the case they are probably feeding off clothing or your carpets (natural fibres only) if you cant find them in clothing, check the corners and edges of the room, behind and under furniture etc even hanging off the bottom of furniture.
You can still but moth ball but they make everything stink! just get any insecticide liquid, maybe a cheap flea or ant killer from the pet shop or similar and spray all infested areas.

BOO.. there are thousands of kinds of moths and hundreds of them live in UK. some are tiny (10mm.long) some are huge(for a moth about 35mm.) and some cannot fly as they have lost their wings. Only a few will eat your clothes. They prefer clothes with gravy stains and ketchup so if you put clothes away after washing them you have a better chance of avoiding problems. You should go through all your stored clothing as that is probably where they came from. It is best to keep woollens in self seal poly bags.
thank god the Eu has banned mothballs, I once sat long haul next to an elderly couple and they stank of moth balls and by the end of the flight so did I,disgusting.
Contact you local pest control office sounds like the room needs sealing off and fumigating to get rid of them all otherwise they will continue to breed.

Thanks for all your suggestions folks - have found some stuff on Amazon which hopefully will do the trick. There aren't that many, certainly not a plague of the critters. to "boo" - just trying to be jokey first thing in the morning really, I don't think there is more than one type of moth really! Cheers again to all!
