Can you think of a picture of an object/animal that when it is chopped up and in separate bits; or parts of the picture are zoomed in on it is diificult to tell what it is? Had originally thought of an elephant e.g. close up of tail/trunk/ear/eye but they were too obvious. Any help would be much appreciated!

what's it for, sophie? - that might help us to have ideas.

if you used a picture of an alligator then people would assume that it is of a crocodile
duck billed platypus
use a cat - it could be a cat, or a bear, or a puma, or..... a fur coat.

Sorry boxtops; that would help! It's for a presentation I need to do; want to illustrate the idea that you need to see the big picture/different viewpoints. Don't want to make it too difficult Trim, also don't want to trick people Bibble (it's as part of an interview!)
That could be a possibility Steg!
Had also though I could use a children's book character as an alternative but couldn't decide which would be a good one.

Is it for children or adults? I have seen some very good "what is it" pictures in magazines, showing body parts - so, at the right angle, a close-up of a folded elbow can look like a bum... etc.

For adults but is for a teaching post (hence the idea of using a book character!)
