Just saw a quote on another thread which really did make me L.O.L . ( On the same theme ) Stan - " Well , what did he die of ? " Ollie - " He died of a tuesday... " Can anyone remind us of any more L&H classic lines ?

One that always sticks with me wasn't a line by them but one of the (not sure what the correct term is) message boards that popped up ofr 5 seconds or so, between scenes. It read:

The night was dark....

...they usually are.

Still makes me laugh now!
I remember when I think Ollie was waitng for a phone call. The phone rang and Stan picks it up , listens for a while then says "it cetainly is" and puts the phone down.
Ollie asks who it was.
Stan replies that the operator had simply said "It's a long distance from Atlanta, Georgie"....
It's better when you watch it

" You can lead a horse to water but a pencil must be lead!" Stan Laurel not sure which film.
I like the one where they're supposed to be sharing a drink and Stan drinks the whole glass of liquor (or some alcoholic drink) and Ollie asks him why he's drunk all of it. Stan says that he had to drink the top half to get to the bottom half which was his!
Maybe this doesn't quite belong in this thread but have you seen the wonderful Laurel and Hardy dance to Michael Jackson?

Another phone one which I am sure was L&H. Stan is on the phone and keeps repeating "You don't say!" At the end Ollie asks him who it was and Stan answers they didn't say.
There are some good lines on this short clip.
e.g. "If I hadn't have seen you I wouldn't have known you"
Sit down with a cup of coffee and see if you enjoy this good, clean humour.

Brilliant Factor, classic L 'n' H.
''You don't say'' has been done by almost everyone. My personal favourite is in 'Chloe' by Spike Jones.....

Ludwig, you've started something now. :o)))
I'm a huge L+H fan. The box set of all 106 films on DVD is well worth getting.

As regards the "It sure is" scene, for me that's not the line that steals it. Funny though it certainly is, it's Ollie's complete misunderstanding of what has happened: "I wish there was some way to put a stop to those practical jokers" - sheer genius!
Fantastic. So many great quotes, I wish I could think of another just now - in the meantme here's Kneesy earsy nosey

Stan : He fell through a trapdoor and broke his neck.
Ollie : Was he building a house?
Stan : No, they hanged him!
