Hiya, My aunt and cousin used to say that when the house was untidy that it was like a "Dundering Inn" Often wondered wher it originated.

I don't think it's 'a dundering inn'...ie a sort of tavern, presumably...but a 'dundering-in'. Dunder is a variant of the Scottish word, dunner, which - as Sandy suggests above - involves something falling down with a thundering sound. In other words, your granny was saying that the house looked as if it had collapsed around you all!
