Farmers markets selling cheap cakes from Home bargain store.
i assume most people here have heard of and use the farmers markets that travel the country.
we have one here every now and again, but i was surprised to find one stall - set up with lots of wicker baskets, red checked material, trying to look all homemade and countrified - selling 'homemade' cakes, for £1 or 2 ....that they had clearly bought from home bargains store!
i knew they looked familiar because i buy them all the time... and i bet the seller was horrified to find they'd been allocated a stall on the pedestrianised bit literally right outside a HB store! haha... so to be doubly certain, when i went into HB i checked and i was then 100% certain they are the same cakes - of a least 4 different types, costing about 50p for 6.
people expect something homemade and a bit special when they buy from there, so i thought this was a bit naughty.
obviously they can sell whatever they want and if people want to buy them, then its a case of caveat emptor
but I was half tempted to confront them, or stand in front of the stall telling every passer by - haha but i wasn't that bothered, more disappointed, so didn't of course
but now i'm wondering - is there a quality control place for them i could send a quick email to or something?
i also thought of sending a quick email to our local paper, so people realise
as i say, i am not fuming or losing sleep over it, so not going to go to any lengths, but an email takes a few minutes.
thanks
