They see royalty as some sort of fairy tale where Prince charming sweeps his lovely bride away. The Queen is some sort of fairy godmother and with the wave of her hand casts a spell on her adoring public.
Others can see royalty as the head of a class structure which permeates down to the working poor.

pdq1, the reprieve from an inherited head of state is in your hands - that's what democracy is all about. at the moment there's no sign of the electorate flocking to the republican cause, but that is bound to change when the queen is succeeded (whether by charles or william). as soon as australia, new zealand and canada move to an elected head of state, Britain will surely follow.
she was a frequent guest on Matthew Wrights show on TV and one ugly slipup occurred. She was in a debate with the rest of the panel and was getting rattled, not unheard of. then she came out with a startling
"you people", meaning in no uncertain terms the white panellists. It was a moment that should have seen her off the show for good. Racist and stupid.

Thank god we have only one head of state and one that has no political power. Our Queen is a symbol of unity something impossible with a president, who at best represents the supporters of one party.
Who would we have had as president over the past 60 odd years ?
Wilson ,Heath, Callaghan , Thatcher, Major, Blair , Brown, Cameron, and for the future how about . President Milliban ? These are the people who would have been in the running for the presidency ! Not forgetting Blairs right hand man John Prescott.
In the states every 4 years the country has to find hundreds of millions to run the campaigns and fund the security . In addition all ex presidents and vice presidents and their families have to be protected and paid huge pensions for decades after their term of office.
At the moment the US taxpayers are paying for all their ex presidents dependants since WWII plus the current crop of the Carters , the Clintons , two Bushes as well as the Obamas. plus all their side kicks .
What do the Americans get as a bonus ? Nothing ! No tourists go to countries just to see their presidents , we usually don't even know their names ,let alone their homes or their culture .
Least of all N'Korea. In contrast we attract millions to our shores and if you ask them , as I did when I welcomed foreign groups , what they considered our major attraction, it was invariably the royalty.

I'm all for tolerance but the more you read of this woman and the Abu Quatadas of this world the more you see how devalued immigration has become that we let nutters like these into Britain.....If they don't like the country and nation of peoples we are then sod off back to where you came from and spout your vitriol there..
