When I was a child, my grandad used to recite a poem, the first line of which was "Give me the life I love..." and that's all I can remember, except for a sort of "vagabond" theme.

I have a feeling it may be Scottish or Irish in origin, but am not 100% sure.Any ideas?

Hello,

I think the poem you mean is "The Vagabond" by Robert Louis Stevenson (who was Scottish). You can find the words here:~

It is part of a series of songs, set to music by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and called "Songs of Travel" not all the Songs are by RL Stevenson though!
