When I was growing up I thought our neighbour was posh because they drank coffee, ate brown bread and shopped at M&S!

bert_h, memories of glasgow, my mum was a glaswegian, but always tried to as i say put on her telephone voice when answering the phone. funnily enough in the 60´s up until i think 72 one of the kids had to accompany her the phonebox to listen to her talking to her rels, this is when she then relaxed and went straight back to talking glaswegian. But an even funnier story, she told us when she was a wane, if she was caught by her dad saying aye, shed get her behind skelped.
