They are real and they've been in use for many years. Many women prefer them to the alternatives.
I know someone who used similar for years, she was happy with it - this type of protection isn't new.
never heard of it
To Google or not to Google?..
Google 'menstrual cup' rather than a brand name
I thought you were talking about bras...lol!
Disgusting?

They're no more "disgusting" than any other feminine hygiene product, they're environmentally friendly and cost a darn site less in the long run.

Fail to see what your objections could be here Mags.
Not sure why they are any more disgusting than tampons or pads, you still have to see and deal with the end product (not that I have ever used one).

Lie-in-king - don't google, that's what I did and couldnT believe what I was reading!
They are healthier than tampons and as far as I know there has been no instance of toxic shock syndrome through using them.
Mags, just be grateful you don't have use rags which need boiling after every use and hanging on the line to dry. It's no so long since that is all women had. There is nothing disgusting about the cups.
Been available since the 30's and as said, more economical and I believe easy to use.
Question Author
Boo - they sound so uncomfortable, and could it work loose? At least with common products you can chuck away, but don't fancy standing washing one!
Just another bodily function though isn't it? Everyone chooses what suits them.

Point taken hc4361, in the 60s I lived in France for a while and my landlady had a row of rags every month, I gues that's what our mothers/grandmas had to start with, will have to Google when pads first came into being.
This will *really* shock some.....

Menstrual 'pads' are mentioned as early as 4thC AD.
Oh,like a Shewee, not disgusting again is it.
why don't you fancy washing it? It's only blood! Not poison. I'm surprised you're being squeamish about this, thought us women were made of sterner stuff than that Mags ;-)

And no, it doesn't fall out, get the occasional accident ,but you do with other sanitary products too, so not really a big issue.
Interesting thread.........never heard of them.

I have 2 main concerns......
a) spillage.

b) the retained blood clotting in the cap and predisposing to infection.

Just interested.
