Have You Ever Had A Weird Experience?
18 Answers
Spent the day doing a few odd jobs for the ex mother in law. Over a brew I mentioned that ive just started an 8 week mindfulness/ meditation course. She told me that when she was younger, she too practiced meditation for a while and during one meditation had an out of the body experience where she suddenly found herself looking down at her body and had the sensation of being enveloped by unconditional love. She said that it was the most peaceful thing she had ever known. I dont believe that our conscienceness can leave our body....rather that the brain sees things from a different perspective....but found it fascinating all the same.
I would love to have something like this happen to me just for the experience. Have you ever had anything weird/unusual like this happen?

Every night, I was aware of my husband getting up to go to the loo and then pulling a thin blanket up over my shoulder, patting my shoulder when he'd done so. A couple of years later, in a different flat, we were talking about generous gestures with some friends and I mentioned this small kindness. OH blanched and said, No I didn't, you did that every night!
Years later, on a new posting we met a couple who, it transpired, had lived on the same flat, her first words to us were, Did you still get tucked in at night?

About forty years ago it was a very stormy night and I was worrying about an old lady who lived down the road from where I lived. She was alone, old and not very well. I used to visit her often. The next day I called in and talked to her about the storm. I said that I was thinking about her and she said she saw me walking past the window! Maybe I was having an out of body experience.
I've posted this before. OH and I stood up from sofa to go to bed suddenly large piece of potpourrie from one end of sitting room leapt to other end actually between us. Expression on OH face was unbelievable. No explanation we just accepted it as one of those things due to this house being plagued with happenings.
Was working late and glanced up to see someone in what I took to be a long blue dressing gown. Thought it was my daughter sleepwalking so immediately went to her room only to find her in bed asleep.
Next morning she said she had put her dressing gown in the washing basket downstairs having spilt some tea on it the previous morning.

Spent a weekend in Brighton and Worthing about 10 years ago,was on both piers and had a lot of time looking down off the piers. At one point,I suddenly thought,it was like tv detective shows where there is a body under the pier. On the Monday morning, seeing local tv,someone was found drowned beside the pier:-( I've never forgotten it.
Fifteen years ago, the morning after a night of passion with Mr O, I went to the supermarket to shop. A woman who frequents out local pub who I was on nodding acquaintance with, made a beeline for me in the supermarket. She put her hand on my arm and said "Last night you conceived a son. He will be very tall and very good with computers." She then walked off and I have never seen her since.
She was right.

It's not an uncommon report from folk. Either they are right (in which case they should be able to test what they saw when the OOB experience ends, or the practical view that it is an unusual brain state causing the effect, is true. Whichever there is no reason to think it isn't an experience folk can have. I rather hope the consciousness can leave the body, it would imply we are more than just an emergent effect of a bunch of electrical/chemical reactions.
No I've not had that experience but I have had experiences that made me think, as seances. But for that matter every visit to AB could count too :-D

One dark evening me and my then boyfriend were walking to the local pub. Suddenly something floated past my eyes, they were round, opaque with a thicker edging, about the size of the now £2 coin and there were about six of them not in any particular formation. I didn't say anything to my boyfriend because he was very down to earth and I thought he'd make fun of me, but while I was thinking this and wondering what on earth they were, he suddenly said 'what the hell was that' in utter amazement. He'd seen them too and was as flabergasted as I was. We stood looking round, but didn't see them again and to this day, I have no idea what they were.
Hi nailit, In July last year my father passed away. He had deteriorated but we didn't know 'when' he would go. Two days before he died I was in work & that description you gave .. "enveloped by unconditional love" I experienced .. I was very emotional. It was such a powerful feeling that I felt the need to ring home & ask if he was o.k .. he was. The day after that he died. I don't know if there was a connection, but I can say I've never felt that sensation ever.
