>>>What is the name derived from? See 'Etymology', here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geordie Teesside: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoggie Durham hasn't got any well-used terms although some sources suggest simply 'Posh Geordie'.

Teeside and Durham are counties, Newcastle is not.
You're not a Geordie if you're from Sunderland. You're a Mackem.
Hartlepool - Monkey Hanger
As for Teeside, if you are from Middlesborough you're a Smoggie.

Jordy is someone that likes Jeff Chandler songs. ;0)
Pedantic geographical rant: Teesside hasn't existed as a County for over 40 years. Cleveland went the same way. Middlesbrough was once in Yorkshire, but now lies in Redcar & Cleveland. Stockton-on-Tees is now in County Durham.

That's all from the icy, frozen smoglands of the People's Republic of Teesside ;-)

Golly gosh it is awfully complicated!
And if you are from South Shields you are a Sand-dancer,either from the way they used to beach the fishing boats or the more insulting reference to the large community of Omanni sailors that lived their in the 1920's
North Shields people were Cods Heads as that was where most of the local fishing boats landed the catches for processing
Walls Enders were Hillbillies from the steep hill fron the docks to the town

That's ^^^^ all North of Watford isn't it?
My gran was a Geordie from Gateshead
