'Blood And Sand' is the title of a 1922 silent movie starring Rudolf Valentino as a matador - hence the title - and I can only assume that the oath using the phrase has grown from that. Liker most oaths, it consists of single syllable words which can be spat out with suitable vehemence at appropriate times.
