Installing a dvd/video
7 Answers
Please can someone help me? I have a tv with one scart, a Sky digibox which plugs into the tv's one scart. I used to have a video player plugged into the Sky and a second tv plugged into the video and this worked fine.I have disconnected the video but I cannot for the life of me connect the dvd/video . I plugged a scart lead into the AV2and into the digibox which didn't work and then into the AV1 which didn't work. Does anyone understand what I am on about, if so could you tell me in easy terms what to do. I also run a second and third tv from the video as cannot find where to plug them in on Sky box.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.dvd's and your sky digi box should have 2 scart ports (or more) each. one is the 'in' port, which allows another device to run through the equipment. the other is an 'out' port, which connects this to another piece of equipment, probably a tv. you should use a heierarchy system. your tv is the top as you cant view anything without. you can plug into this either the dvd/video or the sky box as they can both run independantly. however, you can run sky through your dvd/video and watch it on the av channels but not vice versa. so basically, plug your sky box into your 'in' port of your dvd/video. connect your scart from the 'out' port of your dvd/video into your tv. sorted. if you have more than 2 ports on each peripheral, you can use these to connect to a 2nd tv. this works up the heierarchy though. if you plug your sky into a 2nd tv you can watch sky but no dvd's. if you plug your dvd into a 2nd tv instead, you can watch sky or your dvd's.
No, I need to record some rubbish. So Boobesque let me get this right. Sky into dvd/video. dvd/video into tv. Will I need the dvd/video on all the time to watch Sky. Will my viewing channel on the tv have to change as now we're getting into difficult stuff for me. I think dvd/video will have to be on AV for me to watch it in bedroom via aerial cable(plugged into RF out right?) I hate all this and hubby is even worse.
you will not have to have the dvd/video on all of the time. only when you watch dvd's/video's or want to record sky. you will probably have to retune your sky channel but you can have it on the same channel as before. yes if you want to watch on second tv, the video will have to be left on the av channel. or you should have an rf out port on your sky box which would mean that you could leave your video turned off. but no videos in bedroom. also before you go to bed you will have to set the channel as you cant change it with the tv remote. unless you buy an infra red link cable to connect between your bedroom and skybox.
