For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I think that a lot of the one's that I regularly use would annoy people - "Doing my head in", "...and I was like...", and constantly saying everything is "Cool" perhaps being the most common offenders. I also use the inverted finger commas occasionally and say "Can I get...", inavariably in pubs (sorry Loosehead!). However, I'm using them in an ironic post-post modern way, so that's ok.
In Marks and Spencer there's an "escalator up" and an "escalator down". To escalate is to rise, so the word up is not necessary, the word down creates a contradiction in terms.
Also to say "drop down" - how could it drop up? "Fall pregnant" is another pet hate of mine too, it's as if you're saying the person is unfortunate or even "don't jump off that cliff, you might fall pregnant!"
