The Selling Of Knives?

Does anyone know if it's illegal to sell kitchen knives door to door or on the street? Just asking because I was offered some by a minor in the street and I think it was that he and others had been selling them door to door from what I gather. Suspect they thought 'last knockings' will try this person before they wended their way home. Frightening really considering how many innocent people are stabbed in this country!

I'd wonder what a minor was doing with knives.
I'd suspect they aren't supposed to have them outside of the home anyway.

I'd have thought it was illegal for a minor to be selling anything on the street (except possibly under the aegis of an organisation like (for example) the Scouts).

There has been a scam for years whereby people go around food outlets and try to flog sets of kitchen knives in nice carry cases. They are crap knives but some people fall for it. The people that sell them are usually from the travelling community.

Thanks for your replies. I was appalled that this boy had the knives and tried to sell them, there were others including adults with him but I wasn't approached by them as they were getting in the car. I thought no knives were allowed to be carried on the street unless for your work or religious grounds (the latter I disagree with anyway). However.....I found a site where one can ask the police questions and I asked if it was illegal for people to sell knives door to door and was answered that if they obtain a pedlars licence then they CAN sell knives door to door! I am still not convinced that it's right to sell knives like that but according to the answer I received it is! It's crazy to me as they could be selling knives to under age people at the door!
