Employee starting part time salary £3,656.25 pa. Only works 39 weeks per year so paid pro rata. If only works 3 weeks for the first month ...is pay calculated x3 weeks @ £70.31 = £210.93 OR calculated 1 month minus 1 week = £304.69 - £70.31 = £234.38 ?

divide the full time annual salary by 52 to calculate the weekly wage;
divide the weekly wage by number of full-time hours to calculate the hourly rate;
multiply the hourly rate by the number of weekly hours actually worked by the part-time employee

I believe it is more likely that a company paying a monthly salary would opt for paying the number of days worked in the first month. So if the employee starts by working from, say, 8th of April the payment would be calculated as: 22/30 of £3656.25 ÷ 12 (the monthly pay) = £223.44. This is a better way to apportion earnings.
Incidentally, the correct way of calculating a week's money from a salaried figure is to multiply the figure by 52.14 (365 ÷ 7) or, in the case of a leap year, by 52.29 (366 ÷ 7). Fascinating, eh?
