I have just realised that new 10p coins stick to magnets.
Are these forgeries?

No, they make them from coated steel now - cheaper to make.

Oh good that saves me from going through all of my pockets.
Not to be recommended at the best of times.
They stick to my Kindle case.
What are they composed of? It's not ferrous to know.
Stuey...yes they are.

from the Wiki entry ::

"The ten pence coin was originally minted from cupro-nickel (75% Cu, 25% Ni), but since 2012 it has been minted in nickel-plated steel due to the increasing price of metal"

And we will have plastic fivers in September !
harder to forge too mikey,thats a bonus
I knew that, Mikey: I just wanted to use the word "ferrous". Anyway, we've had plastic 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 dollar bills for quite a while now. Be careful: they tend to stick together so it's easy to mistakenly give out two bills instead of one!
Dammit, why didnt they do that when I was a youngster, I used to spend hours trying to get money out the local wishing well, it would have been so easy with a magnet on a string!!
I read an article in one of your newspapers (I forget which one) which stated that the new coins were magnetic!
Stuey...you big fibber you !
No, I kid you not: The writer of the article actually said that the new coins were magnetic.
